Adcon Telemetry offers a wide range of innovative remote telemetry units that collect and transmit sensor data, read water meters, monitor pumps and motors and serve many other purposes. Adcon RTU's operate either in the 430 to 470MHz frequency band, transmitting data up to 20km (12 miles) , or they use the GSM network.
A common characteristic of all Adcon RTU's is their extremely low power consumption, optimized for solar operation, their far above average transmission distances, their almost maintenance free operation and their capability to be networked.
What does "networking RTU's" mean?
With Adcon RTU's huge networks of stations can be built, that can consist of several thousands of RTU's. Within this network each long and short range RTU can communicate with other long range RTU's, using them as relay stations to pass on data telegrams. The need to directly communicate with the base station thus becomes obsolete. The advantages are obvious: RTU's can transmit with lower output power that does not require costly licensing. And transmitting with less power also means consuming less energy, thus requiring a smaller battery pack and a smaller solar panel - reducing cost of acquisition, operation and maintenance.
The RTU's internal battery pack not only supplies the logger and the radio with power, but even the sensors attached to the system. We are thus very carefully selecting our sensors to make sure that they fit our low-power requirements. If needed we have the manufacturer build a custom sensor with reduced power consumption. This makes external power sources, cabling and cabinets in most cases obsolete, again saving money in purchasing and operation.
The advantages at a glance
- Year round solar powered operation both for our UHF (430-470 MHz) and our GSM / GPRS devices
- Freely adjustable Sampling and Transmission Intervals
- Integrated Data Logger and Backup-Battery
- Easy to install, easy to operate, easy to maintain
- All RTU's can be networked
- The A840 Telemetry Gateway as a flexible base station can manage both radio and GSM/GPRS units and offers a variety of interfaces for data retrieval: Ethernet, RS-232, built-in analog modem.
